Blueskyscrubs.com

August 31st, 2010

Those of you who may work or be going to school to train in the medical field may be interested in a website called Blue Sky Scrubs. My sister, who is in her 2nd year to become an LPN had mentioned this website to me, and I thought it would be fun to share.

Blue Sky Scrubs offers many types of nursing scrub uniforms as well as custom made scrubs. In a small town like ours, scrubs are hard to come by and overly priced. Most look like something a grandma would wear and a lot are just plain blue or white. Kind of boring if you ask me.

Speaking as someone who has spent a lot of tiem in a hospital growing up (due to haveing many, many eye surgeries) I think that scrubs paly a huge role in peoples recovery. I can remember sitting in PEDS looking at the nurses with mickey mouse, winnie the poooh and other cute scrubs. It made them seem less scary!  I also think that cute scrubs cna help with adults too. Not everything ened to be so plain and sterile.

There are not many medical uniform stores that offer custom scrubs of your own choice though that is why I couldn’t resist blogging about this. I truly think that something simple like cartoon character scrubs can make the world of difference.

Upon my sister’s graduation, I think I will give her a pair of custom scrubs as a gift. I’m not sure what I’ll get on them yet but I have almost a year to think about it!

Preparing for Winter

August 30th, 2010

I know, it’s only August (well, September on Wednesday!) but I have decided it’s time to start preparing for the winter.

What I mean by preparing is a number of things. I like to have things in as top notch shape as possible before the winter comes. I wash down my walls, clean out the closets, get rid of junk that has piled up and so on.

This year, we need to have some drafty windows looked at, a new door put on the front of house as well as a new mailbox.  We need the air vent of our attick (on the outside of the house) replaced and some siding on our house fixed all before those strong winter winds come a howling through.

We are hoping that if we start now we can have most of it accomplished before November, which seems like a pretty decent time to me considering we have has snow on Halloween before. We are also looking into ordering a lot of things online because you get that at discount or reducecd prices. So far our mail box has been found online and has beat other prices on mailboxes in our local stores by atleast $15.

The main purchase would definitely be the new door, which we probably will not be ordering online, but either way it has to be replaced!

All Clear!

August 22nd, 2010

You may have noticed that my site is essentially wiped clean. I had recently switched my web hosting to a different company and forgot to save a backup (Doh!). I tried finding an old backup and even seeing if my old host still had the files but it was a no go. So I’m starting fresh which is kind of nice but I wish I still had those years worth of posts.

Anyway, with the clean start I am hoping to make this website a more valuable site. I would like to maybe to turn it into an all reaview website. I know they are gettign quite popular lately, but I for one deffinitely benefit from others honest reviews about products. It lets me know whether I should waste my money on something or not.

I am hoping that I could put my spin on things that I buy, however, I also think that could get boring for readers after a while. I even thought about selling reseller hosting to make some extra cash. I haven’t decided on anything just yet though.

Back To School

August 22nd, 2010

With everyone going back to school in the upcoming days and weeks I thought it would be a great time to talk about a website called Tutorvista.

Tutorvista is a website that helps people from grades k-12 with different school subjects to which they may be experiencing difficulty in. I sure wish I had a resource like this when I was in school, more importantly, my grade 12 math class.

There are many features on tutorvista such as help with Equivalent fractions, Prime Factorization, and Linear programming. One of my favourite aspects of this website has to be the Probablity Calculator though, as I have never done well with probability. Just as a refresher, a probability question may look something like this:

Example: A bag contains 6 black balls, 4 blue balls and 3 grey balls; a ball is picked up at random. Find the probability to select a black ball.

Given that Black balls = 6

Blue balls = 4

Grey balls = 3

Total number of balls = 6 + 4 + 3 = 13

Sample space = 13!/(13 – 1)! = 13

Number of possibilities = 6/(6 – 1)1 = 6

P(B) = 6/13

Therefore probability is 6/13.

That was taken as an example from the tutorvista website but is exactly the types of questions I could never figure out. I always had trouble comprehending questions like those and was confused before I got to the end of reading it.

They are not the only features of this website either, there is also help for Bar Graph, Isosceles triangle, and Line Plot. I highly suggest checking it out if you or anyone you know is in school and could benefit from such resources as talked about above.

Boring Day..

August 22nd, 2010

It’s rainy outside today, Matt is gone out to help his friend fix a head gasket in his Honda Civic to get ready for race day and I am sitting at home waiting for Alyssa to get up from her nap. The weather is supposed to be crappy like this for the next 3-4 days, but hopefully we can figure something out to do for fun ebcause I’m just about ready to go shack whacky

My eye has been acting up a bit lately, I am going to try and get an appointment with my optometrist tomorrow. Sometimes I wish I never had Glaucoma, but things could be a lot worse, right? With any luck she’ll see me tomorrow or at some point this week and we can get things under control.

I also have to start planning a bachelorette party this weekend. My cousin is getting married but she is being weird when it comes to the bachelorette party. She says she doesn’t want anything embarrassing or penis shaped. That’s pretty much what a party like that entails so Im not sure why she even wants one really!

There’s not much else to talk about really, unless you want me to bore you with something like Los Angeles auto repair haha. Hopefully I’ll have something a bit more fun to blog about next time.

The Power of Flowers

August 18th, 2010

I was out for a walk in our neighbourhood today when I came across this house that had their yard done up with various types of flowers and outdoor planters, I couldn’t believe how pretty it was. The house was owned by an elderly woman. She was out planting as I walked by. I couldn’t help but stop and tell her how beautiful thigs looked. She was so sweet.

She said flowers keep her happy on a lonely day, the colours cheer her up and planting passes the time away since her husband had passed away. I talked to her for a good half hour before i kept walking. She was full of good stories and seemed like she just needed someone to listen. I think I might get her a nice indoor planter so she can keep some flowers with her over the winter.

If anything, she definitely made me want to look into planting such beautiful flowers in my yard next year. I think an outddor planter will be on my shopping list, especially since they are on clearance this time of year. Hopefully next year my daughter may take an interest in helping me out. It could be something we can do together. I’ve never done it before, however, o’m sure that lady would have no problem teaching me her old tricks.

I just wish I had of snapped a picture to share with you.

Anyway, i found a great sit to find indoor planters if any of you are interested in starting over the winter, just visit eplanters.com.
